At Rosario, Batangas...
Bayawang Day Care Center - Gift-Giving among Day Care StudentsMarch 28. The first Day Care Center we visited was Bayawang Day Care Center located at Rosario, Batangas. It was also the Graduation Day of the students and was held in Laurel Park. We were assisted by Councilor Tino Luansing while we are waiting for the students.
After lunch, the students from Momoyama School distributed our gifts. Aside from gifts, Sensei Nukui gave each student pencil and stickers. It is nice to know that some of student gained honors/awards through the help and supervision of their teacher Mrs. Felina de Torres. She extended her thanksgiving to CIWEST Foundation for visiting Bayawang Day Care Center.
According to Teacher Fel, at first it was hard for her to teach Day Care students because it takes a lot of responsibilities, need lots of patience but as time goes by she realized that she enjoys teaching. They need a teacher who will teach them how to read, write, and draw and a lot more. Teacher Fel together with the staffs, Momoyama students, and Sensei Nukui had the time to discuss the educational system used. Being a Day Care Worker is not an easy task but she make sure that all students learned from her. We all know that the focus of the students is more on gplayingh not on gstudyingh that's why you need to motivate them in order for them to have interest.
After the conversations, we went to Ms. Vangie Aranda`s house, former foster family of Takafumi. The second house we visited was Mr. Javier's house, the foster family of Otoya Nukui, son of Sensei Nukui.
Another house we visited was Teacher Fel`s house. We spent our dinner in Teacher Fel`s house. After a few conversation we proceed to Councilor Lucina Andal`s house. We stayed there for the whole night.

Mayor Sombrano was warmth in receiving us and glad to talk about the plan of Japan side to donate an Elementary School. The Mayor said that he and his constituents were open for any help and donation from Japan. Around 1:00 p.m., we went to Maria Paz in Tanauan City.
At Tanauan City, Batangas...
At Capt. Ed Burgos' Residence in Maria Paz, Tanauan with Mayor Alfredo Corona and his Wife at Sitio Mahabang Buhangin, a Village near Taal LakeAlmost 2:00 p.m. when we arrived at Capt. Edgardo O. Burgos residence. There, we met Tanauan City Mayor Alfredo Corona and his wife. We visited Maria Paz Elementary School . Sensei Nukui talked to the principal. The three students together with Ciwest staff roamed around the school premises and observed the classrooms. They have seen the classrooms and laboratory set-up which is very different from what they have in Japan . Physically, Maria Paz Elementary School is not fully-developed but academically, some of its students excelled in various competitions. It's been 3:00 p.m. when we started to walk down to Sitio Mahabang Buhangin, a village near Taal Lake . This village is approximately 4 kms away from Maria Paz Elementary School. We walked down for about 40 minutes with the assistance of Capt. Ed and his constituents. We reached the village at around 4:00 p.m. Right after we arrived at Rene Vergara's Residence, Teacher Gil, Day Care Worker at Sea-side Day Care Centre, came and talked with Sensei Nukui and Junko about the status of their Day Care Centre. Sensei Nukui and Sensei Fuji stayed at Lapaz Orense's residence, Shihomi had her stay at Dante Tolentino's residence, while Junko, Takafumi and I stayed at Roman Nones' residence, and Vincent at Rene Vergara's residence.
March 30. We went out of the house and observed the place. Afterwards, we talked to some parents and to their children. Junko and Takafumi played with the children and they were glad to see a seven year old boy who is taking care of his one and a half year old youngest brother. Then, all of us went to the Day Care Center. Sensei Nukui and Junko did the indoor observation with our assistance. Sensei Nukui was impressed on the works that Teacher Gil done to beautify and make the classroom conducive for learning. Junko browsed the textbooks and showed it to Sensei Nukui. Before we leave, Sensei Nukui asked Teacher Gil regarding the things they are still needed, and he said, the fence for their garden. Sensei Nukui gave Teacher Gil Php 1000.00 as donation. Generally, they realized the effort that the people in that place are doing to give the young ones a better future through education. They also realized that Grade 5 & 6 students on that place have to walk up and down the mountain to reach their school and they also experienced that. We leave Sitio Mahabang Buhangin at 11:00 a.m.
At 1:30 p.m. , we arrived at Malaking Pulo Day Care Centre. While we are waiting for Teacher Sol, Shihomi played with the children, as Sensei Nukui, Takafumi, Junko and others went to the church nearby for observation. When teacher Sol came, Sensei Nukui and Junko did the indoor observation and asked some queries to her. Afterwards, they knew that all of the Day Care Centers under the Department of Social Welfare and Development have classroom set-up to follow.
March 30, evening, all CIWEST staffs and officers have dined with them at Harbor View Restaurant in Roxas Blvd. Manila . Each staff of CIWEST had time to talk with each of them. CIWEST gave gifts as sign of appreciation for their visit. They also gave us gifts as appreciation to assistance we gave to them during their tour. During that night everybody was glad exchanging thoughts and ideas with each other.
